Education

Wain Foundation School

Almost 26 million children in Pakistan are out of school. Most of them are in rural areas or concentrated in underprivileged communities. High dropout rates in such communities show that retention of students is as much a challenge as enrollment. Remedial measures are needed and needed fast. For us in the Wain Foundation one child out of school is one too many. Therefore, the Wain Foundation School is a passion project for us. The school is located in an underdeveloped and underprivileged community in the outer periphery of Lahore comprising more than 150 households living in makeshift shelters. Similar settlements are in the immediate vicinity.

Wain Medical Center

More than 40 percent of Pakistan’s children below 5 are suffering from stunted growth, which has long term implications for a child’s mental and physical development. Health indicators on maternal, child and infant mortality, immunization, doctor population ratio, hospital population ratio etc. are far below the acceptable standards. Public sector health facilities, especially BHUs and THQs, are inadequate. In underprivileged areas they are practically nonexistent.

Waheed Wain Incubation Center

Almost 64% of Pakistan’s population is below 30 years and of this 29% is between the ages of 15 to 29. This youth bulge is one of the biggest in the world. In a rapidly aging population globally, our youthful population is an asset. However, with high unemployment amongst the educated youth, a lack of competitive edge in skills and an alarming incidence of stunted growth in our children, this very asset can easily become a liability.

I heard about this healthcare facility and decided to visit to see if they could help. The dispensary and the staff there are incredibly caring and supportive. They prioritise and care for every patient, providing them with the necessary medicines.

    Collaboratively find solutions!

    My startup focuses on improving English language proficiency for competitive exams such as CSS and PMS. When I joined this incubation center, I initially expected to work on my project alone. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that we operate as a community here, with people coming together to discuss various issues and collaboratively find solutions.

    Education is every child’s right!

    I believe that education is every child’s right regardless of gender. I am a daily wager and for me to put food on the table and bear any medical expense is more than what I can afford. The Wain Foundation gave us this opportunity otherwise it was almost impossible to send my children to school.

    Engaging the global target audience!

    My startup is about creating and selling NFTs, and a notable challenge I faced was that my target audience is not limited to local areas but extends internationally. Initially, I lacked the knowledge on how to reach and explore this global market. However, the trainers and mentors played a vital role in guiding me to devise effective strategies for reaching and engaging the global target audience.

    Working in high-end hospitals has never quenched my thirst for being able bring change in the society, but now that I am working for Wain Foundation, I feel so satisfied that my pledge is put in utilization in helping the ones in need.

Message from the Chairman

In view of the rising scale and complexity of socio-economic problems facing our country, many responsible citizens believe that it is not possible to resolve these issues by relying on public sector alone. In the spirit of social service many are already making a creditable contribution. As they say, every little bit counts and there is nothing small in service to humanity.‍

The Wain Foundation was established in 2013 to play its part in alleviating the subhuman living conditions in the marginalized, underprivileged, and underserved communities by providing quality healthcare and educational facilities in an environment of respect and dignity. We strongly believe that our success will not be in the numbers of people we can cover under our welfare schemes but in the number, we can wean out of it, to become self-supporting, respected, and productive members of the society. The Wain Foundation is also playing a part in helping our talented youth to become a successful and responsible entrepreneur through Waheed Wain Incubation Center at University of Sargodha.
